Maple and birch bats for adult wood bat leagues, ranked independently.
Adult wood bat leagues allow wood bats only. Maple is the densest and most durable choice, birch has a little more flex and feels familiar to players moving over from metal, and ash is a lighter, lower-cost option that is better for practice. Always check your league for rules on wood type, and note that laminate bats are not accepted everywhere.
Bats are ranked into tiers by score, with the Top 5 in each tier shown first. Where we could not find a bat at JustBats, we link to Amazon.

USA (USABat) bats play closer to wood and are required by Little League and most rec leagues. USSSA bats allow more barrel flex for extra pop and are used in most competitive travel ball. BBCOR bats are required for high school and college, always at a -3 drop, and play closest to wood at the higher levels. A bat certified for one is usually not legal in the others.
Yes, NFHS high school and NCAA college baseball both require a BBCOR-stamped bat at exactly a -3 drop. Wood bats are also always legal at this level.
